Lydia Brown, mezzo-soprano, holds a B.M in Vocal Arts Performance from the USC Thornton School of Music. Brown was one of the Grand Prize winners of the Music Center’s Spotlight Awards in 2019. Brown sang the titular role of the Owl in The Night Flight of Minerva’s Owl for USC’s digital opera scenes in January 2021. Brown has performed selections as Rosina from Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini, Chérubin by Massenet, Donna Elvira from Don Giovanni by Mozart, Carlotta in Die Schweigsame Frau by Strauss and Suzuki in Madama Butterfly by Puccini. Recent credits include Olena/Firefighter/Oleg/Fox in the American premiere of All the Truths We Cannot See: A Chernobyl Story, by Uljas Pulkkis, the Stewardess in Jonathan Dove’s Flight, and the cover for Ruth in Pacific Opera Project’s production of The Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert & Sullivan. This past summer, Brown portrayed the role of Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte by W.A. Mozart. Upcoming credits include the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and a participating singer in Beth Morrison Projects’ Star Singer.
