2024 Young Artist Awards Competition

Palisades Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce its annual Young Artist Awards Competition for 2024.
This year we will be expanding our competition to all elementary, middle, and high school musicians residing, or attending a school located in, the following communities: Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, Malibu, Topanga, Brentwood, and Venice.
The winners at each academic level will receive monetary awards as well as an opportunity to perform with the orchestra (concert date: June 16, 2024, 7:30 p.m.).
Audition material should consist of a single memorized concerto movement, aria, or similar work. The music must be part of the standard repertoire, for which orchestra parts are readily available.
Students are required to bring their own accompanist to the auditions, which will be held Saturday March 2, 2024 from 9:30 to 1:30 in Luther Hall at Palisades Lutheran Church, 15805 Sunset Boulevard (corner of El Medio), Pacific Palisades, CA 90272.
Palisades Symphony will chose independent judges for the competition from the music profession. Their decision will be final, including the decision not to give an award in any or all of the categories, if they should feel that the contestants are not ready to play with the orchestra.
If you have won the competition before at a particular grade level (1-6, 7-9, and 10-12), you may not enter again at that level. However, you may enter the competition either at your grade level playing a different instrument, or when you have entered at the next grade level.
Applicants for the audition must submit an application form. This is included in the packet that your teacher has received and also may be downloaded at this link. The form asks for your name, address, phone number, age, and a brief biographical sketch, including your musical training, current teacher, and the composition to be performed. You can mail the completed form to Palisades Symphony, P.O. Box 214, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272, or else make a digital scan of the form and email it to ContactPalisadesSymphony@gmail.com.
